{"id":9761,"date":"2025-10-01T19:07:31","date_gmt":"2025-10-01T13:37:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/slsports.lk\/?p=9761"},"modified":"2025-10-01T19:07:32","modified_gmt":"2025-10-01T13:37:32","slug":"all-island-schools-hockey-in-october-to-mark-the-world-childrens-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/slsports.lk\/si\/all-island-schools-hockey-in-october-to-mark-the-world-childrens-day\/","title":{"rendered":"All-Island Schools Hockey in October to mark the World Children\u2019s Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The All-Island invitation schools\u2019 hockey tournament 2025 for under-14 boys and girls, prearranged and conducted by the Matale Hockey Club to mark the World Children\u2019s Day, will be worked off at the two places Edward Park and the Astro turf in Matale on 4-5 October, commencing at 8 a.m. each day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The two-day hockey championship with IOC Lubricants as the leading sponsor will be played for the&nbsp;Servo Challenge Trophy.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Matale Hockey Club&nbsp;President Chathura Dissanayaka, 24 boys and 18 girls teams on behalf of leading hockey playing schools across the country have already confirmed their participation.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The teams will be similarly divided into four boys and girls groups with the two top teams of each group moving into the quarterfinals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The two champion\u2019s&nbsp;boys and girls are entitled to receive the Servo Challenge Trophy while the runners up of both segments will also receive trophies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, trophies are on offer for the Best Player, Best Goal Keeper and the Most Disciplined Team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Vijaya College Matale and Seetha Devi College Kandy emerged&nbsp;boys\u2019 and girls\u2019 champions, respectively last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With this tournament which is the fourth in the series,&nbsp;the Matale Hockey Club being going to to make hockey an entertaining and enjoyable sport where talented players can be identified.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The All-Island invitation schools\u2019 hockey tournament 2025 for under-14 boys and girls, prearranged and conducted by the Matale Hockey Club to mark the World Children\u2019s Day, will be worked off at the two places Edward Park and the Astro turf in Matale on 4-5 October, commencing at 8 a.m. each day.
