Sri Lanka\u2019s exclusive javelin thrower Sumedha Ranasinghe, who took part in qualification trials organised by Sri Lanka Athletics (SLA) and held at the Diyagama Sports Complex on recently, recorded a distance of 82.56 meters in the process creating a world record for 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The distance covered by Simedha Ranasinghe, also happens to be the longest recorded thus far in the event of javelin throwing anywhere in the world, with the athlete bringing brilliance to his country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Earlier Ranasinghe, Italy\u2019s Giovanni Frattini had covered a distance of 75.85 meters this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the meantime, Ranasinghe\u2019s colleague Rumesh Tharanga, who too took part in the selection trials had thrown his javelin over a distance of 79.58 meters and that also is the second highest distance thrown by an athlete so far this year. <\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
