{"id":8290,"date":"2025-01-12T20:57:42","date_gmt":"2025-01-12T15:27:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/slsports.lk\/?p=8290"},"modified":"2025-01-12T20:57:43","modified_gmt":"2025-01-12T15:27:43","slug":"the-sri-lanka-air-force-shines-at-defence-services-weightlifting-championship","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/slsports.lk\/si\/the-sri-lanka-air-force-shines-at-defence-services-weightlifting-championship\/","title":{"rendered":"The Sri Lanka Air Force shines at Defence Services Weightlifting Championship"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Sri Lanka Air Force won the women&#8217;s championship with several national records in the Defence Services Weightlifting Championship<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 13th Defence Services Weightlifting Championship, organized by the Defence Services Sports Council with the aim of developing the skills of the tri-service sportsmen and women, concluded successfully at the Torrington Sports Complex in Colombo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this championship, the Sri Lanka Air Force women&#8217;s weightlifting team won the overall championship in the women&#8217;s weightlifting event of the Defence Services Sports Championship by winning 6 gold medals, 3 silver medals and 1 bronze medal, while the Air Force men&#8217;s weightlifting team won the men&#8217;s division of the Defence Services Sports Championship by winning 3 gold medals, 4 silver medals and a bronze medal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this competition, Airman Ruchira Jayasena, representing the Sri Lanka Air Force, set a new Sri Lankan record by lifting 135 kg in the 89 kg weight category and Airwoman Madushika Premaratne set a new Sri Lankan record by lifting 66 kg in the 45 kg weight category.
