{"id":7489,"date":"2024-09-08T12:22:49","date_gmt":"2024-09-08T06:52:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/slsports.lk\/?p=7489"},"modified":"2024-09-08T12:22:50","modified_gmt":"2024-09-08T06:52:50","slug":"apgc-junior-championships-2024-lanka-sixth-out-of-28-teams","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/slsports.lk\/si\/apgc-junior-championships-2024-lanka-sixth-out-of-28-teams\/","title":{"rendered":"APGC Junior Championships 2024: Lanka sixth out of 28 teams"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Sri Lankan junior golfing double of Reshan Algama and Kaya Daluwatte ended in sixth&nbsp;position out of 28 teams representing 17 countries at the in recent times finished Asia-Pacific Golf Confederation (APGC) Junior Championships 2024 in Manila, the Philippines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Sri Lankan team finished the tournament with a total score of 1-under par, an outstanding feat playing among the best in Asia and some top teams from Europe as well.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This commendable performance placed them in sixth position overall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Algama maintained his composure throughout the championship, carding a gross score of 213 to finish in the sixth position in the individual event.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His performance was&nbsp;remarkable considering the high-calibre field he was competing against.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Daluwatte, who is probably the best junior player Sri Lanka has ever produced, also made a significant impression in the tournament.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The young golfer displayed her power on the greens; recording a 4-under-par performance and securing a top-five finish with a gross score of 216.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Both golfers\u2019 top performances secured a berth for Sri Lanka at the next event in 2025.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Daluwatte and Algama were coached by Jehan De Saram and are dividends of the hard work put in by Sri Lanka Golf and its Junior Sub Committees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Top 6<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1 and 2&nbsp;\u2013&nbsp;South Korea 1 and 2<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3 \u2013 Thailand 1<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>4 \u2013 Hong Kong China<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>5 \u2013 Thailand 2<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>6 \u2013 Sri Lanka<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Sri Lankan junior golfing double of Reshan Algama and Kaya Daluwatte ended in sixth&nbsp;position out of 28 teams representing 17 countries at the in recent times finished Asia-Pacific Golf Confederation (APGC) Junior Championships 2024 in Manila, the Philippines.
