The Lanka Premier League 2024 wishes to announce that 420 players, both Sri Lankan and overseas, will go under the hammer during the much-awaited \u2018Player Auction,\u2019 which will take place on Tuesday, May 21st, in Colombo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Out of the 420 players, 154 are Sri Lankans, while the remaining players are overseas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Auction Rounds<\/strong> Following the 18 rounds, the auction will move into the acceleration round(s).<\/p>\n\n\n\n Auction Purse<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n In total, the auction will have a collective purse of US$2.5 million from all five franchise teams, while each franchise will bring in a sum of US$500,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The teams will have to ensure that they invest a minimum of 85 percent of the purse they bring into the auction to form their respective squads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Auctioneer<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Charu Sharma, who was the auctioneer of the inaugural LPL player auction held last year, will be the auctioneer of this edition as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The auction will be held at the Hilton Colombo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n (IPL)<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
The auction, which will start at 12 p.m., will have 18 initial rounds, focusing on multiple talent options, such as batters, all-rounders, fast and spin bowlers, and wicketkeepers, with different segments for each criterion, such as capped batters, uncapped batters, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
