Former England Test captain Mike Smith has died, his county team Warwickshire announced on Monday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He was 92 at the time of his death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Known by his initials MJK, he was known for his glasses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He played 50 Tests for England, captaining them on 25 occasions, and was also a rugby union international, winning one against Wales in 1956.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Smith made his Test debut against New Zealand in 1958 and played his final Test against Australia in 1972.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In total, he scored almost 40,000 first-class runs, with 72 centuries, three of them in Test cricket.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Smith served as Warwickshire chairman between 1991 and 2003.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During that time, the club won numerous trophies, with his son Neil Smith being an integral member of the team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Warwickshire announced his death with a moment of silence before the start of their County Championship match against Glamorgan on Monday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
