Sri Lanka Cricket Chief Executive Ashley de Silva said that this financial policy has been introduced when signing new contract agreements with Sri Lankan cricketers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said this at a media conference held at the Sri Lanka Cricket Board yesterday to explain the future course of Sri Lanka Cricket.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said that the new financial system has been introduced not only to cricketers but also to coaches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe key performance indicators of the players are set by the High Performance Centre. But the financial side is set by the cricket board. In the future, when signing contracts, a bonus system has been set up that will give them an advantage in winning and a system that will make them feel bad if they lose a match,\u201d said Ashley de Silva.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
South African Gary Kirsten, the head coach of the national team, who joined the press conference, said that he was happy with the facilities provided by the Sri Lanka Cricket Board to the players, saying that they are much ahead of South Africa.
\u201cI did a survey of the team in the first week of my arrival in Sri Lanka. Also, you need to understand the culture well. You need to understand what motivates the players. You need to understand the environment. I have a lot to learn on this journey,\u201d Kirsten said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
New Sri Lanka head coach Gary Kirsten said it was important to understand the country’s cricket identity when rebuilding the team for the World Cup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The 58-year-old former South African opener began his two-year contract last week and held his first press conference yesterday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kirsten coached the Indian team from 2008 to 2011, guiding them to World Cup glory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He then coached South Africa from 2011 to 2013, taking that team forward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kirsten said he works with interpreters so there is no problem communicating with the players. But he pointed out that English as a communication language must function very well in cricket.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“We all want to see the team perform well across all formats. Obviously, there are a few big tournaments coming up. We need to really perform well in the World Cup. My priority at the moment is to understand who the players are who can play in different formats.
