The association said Nazmul Islam\u2019s remarks had crossed an unacceptable line and damaged the players\u2019 reputation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The controversy erupted after Nazmul Islam called former Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal an \u2018Indian agent\u2019 during a media interaction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He suggested that the players were trying to influence the authorities on financial and selection-related issues, a statement that has been widely criticized in the cricketing world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Bangladesh Cricket Board’s Welfare Association said such remarks by a senior cricket board official were disrespectful and hurtful, and that the players would not tolerate such attacks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The association warned that its members were ready to walk out of domestic and international cricket matches if Nazmul Islam did not resign.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The standoff is likely to disrupt the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League, and the players are willing to boycott matches until the matter is resolved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In response, the Bangladesh Cricket Board issued a statement saying that the comments reflected his personal views and did not represent the board’s official position.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
