Bangladesh’s sports consultant Dr. Asif Nazrul has strongly criticized the Board of Control for Cricket in India after it advised Kolkata Knight Riders to release Bangladeshi cricketer Mustafizur Rahman from the Indian Premier League squad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a post on his Facebook page, Dr. Nazrul said that the decision is an insult to Bangladeshi cricket.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He also said that it raises serious concerns about the safety and treatment of Bangladeshi players in India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAs the advisor to the sports ministry, I have asked the Bangladesh Cricket Board to explain the entire matter in writing to the ICC. If a Bangladeshi cricketer cannot play in India even though he is under contract, then the entire Bangladesh cricket team does not feel safe going there for the World Cup matches,\u201d Dr. Nazrul said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said the Bangladesh Cricket Board has also been instructed to formally request that Bangladesh\u2019s World Cup matches be shifted to Sri Lanka. Dr. Nazrul added that the country\u2019s Information and Broadcasting Advisor had been asked to stop the Indian Premier League from being telecast in Bangladesh and warned that the government would not tolerate such an act, which was disrespectful to the country or its players.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe, as Bangladesh Cricket Board, will not tolerate any insult to cricketers or Bangladesh under any circumstances. The era of slavery is over,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kolkata Knight Riders confirmed that Mustafizur Rahman has been dropped from their squad on the advice of the Board of Control for Cricket in India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Board of Control for Cricket in India has not given an official reason for the decision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Political tensions between India and Bangladesh are escalating, and the issue is now threatening to spill over into cricketing relations between the two countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
