This premier event on the local squash calendar will feature top national talent battling for the coveted men’s and women’s open titles, serving as a PSA Satellite event to allow local players to gain valuable world ranking points. The championship comes at a time when the nation’s squash players are making historic strides on the international stage, raising the profile of the sport across the globe.
The 45th Senior Nationals follow a phenomenal year for Sri Lankan squash, marked by significant international achievements that underscore the current executive committee’s commitment to global exposure and high-performance programs.
National champion Ravindu Laksiri has been a revelation, achieving a career-high world ranking and winning 11 PSA Satellite and 5 PSA International titles, culminating in the prestigious PSA Player of the Year 2024 award. He continues to dominate the local circuit, having won his 12th successive national title previously.
In the women’s category, National champion Chanithma Sinaly has showcased exceptional form, reaching the 2 semi-finals and 1 final PSA 2024 International tournaments in Sri Lanka, Australia and India.
The tournament, originally scheduled for earlier in the month, was slightly delayed but is now firmly on track to deliver a thrilling conclusion to the 2025 domestic season.
