Former football star David Beckham has been officially knighted by King Charles III at Windsor Castle, fulfilling a long-held dream for the global sports icon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The ex-Manchester United and Real Madrid midfielder, honoured for his services to sport and charity, attended the ceremonial alongside his wife \u2014 now Lady Victoria \u2014 and his parents, Ted and Sandra. Beckham, 50, wore a grey three-piece suit designed by his wife, inspired by an outfit once worn by the King.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c[King Charles] was quite impressed with my suit. He\u2019s the most elegantly dressed man that I know, so he inspired quite a few of my looks over the years,\u201d Beckham said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Stating to the media after the ceremony, Sir David described the moment as deeply emotional. \u201cI cried when I first found out, and probably for a few months after it as well,\u201d he admitted. \u201cIt\u2019s been not stressful; I\u2019ve not been nervous, just emotional. I get that from my mum! It\u2019s such a big moment for my family. It\u2019s so special.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
