
A meeting between Vietnamese Ambassador Trinh Thi Tam and Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Sunil Kumara Gamage was held today (July 05) at the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. Nguyen Van Binh, First Secretary of the Vietnamese Embassy, and Aruna Bandara, Secretary of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, participated in the event.
Vietnamese Ambassador Trinh Thi Tam said that the current government’s youth-oriented program is commendable and that the Vietnamese government hopes to provide scholarships for higher education to young people in Sri Lanka, paving the way for youth exchanges between the two countries.
She further stated that she will support the development of sports cooperation between the two countries by promoting martial arts, football and badminton.
The Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports said that the current government is constantly working to maintain strong ties with Southeast Asian countries for the advancement of regional cooperation.
Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Sunil Kumara Gamage was also invited to the program to be held in Sri Lanka on August 19th to mark the 55th anniversary of friendship between Sri Lanka and Vietnam this year and Vietnam’s National Day, which falls on September 02nd.
