K.L.F. Wijedasa, one of the most senior officials in the domestic athletics firmament dead at the age of 93.
He apprehended several positions in the Sri Lankan athletic field together with National Athletics coach, Chairperson the National Athletics Selection Committee and Asian Athletics Technical Officer.
The multipurpose personality of ‘KLF’ as he was affectionately called was a qualified time keeper and a starter who also served as a senior Area Technical official (ATO).
He was also one of the most-sought-after officials at local schools, clubs and International meets. He became the first ‘Photo Finish’ Judge in Sri Lanka in 1991.
KLF was a founder member of the Ceylonese Track and Field Club (CT and FC) and had functioned as Vice President for nearly 24 years from 1965 to 1989. He was elected its President in 1994.
He was a talented athlete and detained the Sri Lankan record in the 100m in the 1950s.
