Suresh Dharmasena gained his first game in the Wheelchair Tennis Men’s Singles First Round at Roland-Garros, Court 9. 

Dharmasena tired Austria’s Josef Riegler. The first set ended 6-1 and the second 6-3.

Naveed Raheem finished 10th overall in the Men’s 400 m Freestyle S9 at the Paris 2024 Paralympics, securing fifth place in Heat 1 with a time of 4:42.71.

Raheem did not qualify for the finals. 

A student of D.S. Senanayake College Colombo, Raheem has plenty of years ahead in the sport.

At the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Para Games, he won a Bronze medal.

Pradeep Somasiri, who is another promising Lankan athlete, ranked 10th overall in the finals of the T46 1,500 m athletics finals, clocking 4:01.84 in the race held yesterday (31 August).
