The Sri Lions Sports Club and Academy will crowd the Sri Lions International Invitation Netball League Tournament for the second time from May 16 to 18 at the Air Force Indoor Stadium Thummulla and St. Joseph’s College Indoor Stadium in Colombo.
Seven local and foreign teams have been called for this tournament, including Sri Lions Sports Club, State Services Netball Association, Mercantile Netball Association, Sri Lanka School Netball Association, Kotelawala Defence University Sports Club and Brunei Sports Club.
The seven teams also consist of netball players from Malaysia, the United Arab Emirates, and Brunei.
The initial round matches of the tournament will be held today and tomorrow with the final matches planned for May 18 at the Air Force Indoor Stadium, Sri Lions International President Dr. Kelum Sujith Perera told the Daily Mirror.
There will be eight major awards to be presented at this competition. Accordingly,
the champion team, runners-up, best player will receive special awards and awards will be presented for the player of the final, best shooter, best goal defence and best centre court player.
Furthermore, three top players will be selected to play for the Sri Lions in the Dubai 7s Netball League.
In the 2024 tournament, the State Services Netball Team won the championship while Sri Lions Sports Club were the runners-up.
