Sri Lanka’s Ganga Seneviratne has claimed first place in the initial round of the Women’s 100m Backstroke swimming event at the Paris Olympics.
Seneviratne recorded a time of 1:04.26.
In the meantime, the second, third and fourth places of the first round were claimed by D. Donelli from Mozambique (1:08.73), A. Primova from Turkmenistan (1:10.17) and M. Almukhtar from Libya (1:10.99) respectively.
This is apparently her personal best, nevertheless, it was reported that her finishing time was not enough to qualify for the semi-final round. Seneviratne has placed 30 among all the other athletes in the event.
