Sri Lankan racing driver Yevan David competed in the opening round of the Hampton Downs round of the 2026 New Zealand Oceania Open Formula 3 Championship.
This is the first time that Evan has competed in a Formula 3 championship.
Evan qualified for this year’s Formula 3 championship due to his performance in the Open Formula 3 championship last year.
The final round of the Hampton Downs round of the 2026 New Zealand Oceania Open Formula 3 Championship is scheduled to be held today.
This championship is being held as a training session before the 2026 Formula 3 World Championship.
The Formula Three World Championship is set to begin in March.
Sri Lankan Yvan David will have the opportunity to compete in Formula One (F1) races based on his performance in Formula Three (F3) and Two (F2) this year and in 2027.
If he demonstrates that ability, Yevan will become the first Sri Lankan to compete in a Formula One race.
