
Sri Lankan athletes who participated in the Para World Championships held in New Delhi, India from the 27th of last month to the day before yesterday (Oct. 5) with the participation of 980 athletes from 100 countries arrived in the island this morning (Oct. 07).
In this tournament, Nuwan Indika won the bronze medal in the long jump event with a jump of 6.4.6 meters, while Pradeep Somasiri, who participated in the 1,500 meters event, also won the bronze medal there, setting an Asian Games record.
All the athletes who participated in the Para World Championships were welcomed at the airport premises by officials from the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and the Chairman of the Sri Lanka Paralympic Committee.
