Sri Lanka wrote history at Taekwondo Championships

Sri Lanka made history by participating for the first time in the World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships, happened in Hong Kong from 30 November to 4 December.

A five-member team on behalf of Sri Lanka competed in the prestigious event. The team includes athletes from the Sri Lanka Army, Sri Lanka Navy, Victory Taekwondo Club, and K-Lion’s Taekwondo Academy.

Two promising young athletes from K-Lion’s Taekwondo Academy are part of the historic team:

•  Senori Fernando will be competing in the Under-30 female category
•  Ashen Rajapaksha will be representing Sri Lanka in the junior male category

Master Upul Fernando, the enthusiastic coach of K-Lion’s Taekwondo Academy, has been instrumental in guiding these young athletes to the global stage.
