A high-level diplomatic discussion was held today (24th) between the Ambassador of Switzerland to Sri Lanka, Dr. Siri Walt, and the Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Sunil Kumara Gamage, at the Ministry premises.

The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral ties and exploring new initiatives for the development of Sri Lankan youth. Both parties engaged in a cordial and productive exchange of ideas regarding upcoming youth development projects.

A key highlight of the discussion was the agreement to launch a series of joint projects between the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and the Swiss Embassy in the near future. It was further agreed to prioritize vocational training programs for the youth, with the support of the Swiss Government in collaboration with the Ministry.

Addressing the delegation, Minister Sunil Kumara Gamage emphasized the government’s commitment to transparency, stating that there is full opportunity to initiate any youth development project with complete integrity.

“Our government is free of corruption. Therefore, you can partner with us to launch any program that enhances the skills of Sri Lankan youth to make them highly qualified professionals for the global market,” the Minister stated.

The meeting was also attended by the Secretary to the Ministry, Mr. Aruna Bandara, the Second Secretary of the Swiss Embassy, and other senior officials.
