The 2024/25 Queensland State Championships was held in Brisbane recently with the participation of over eighty athletes, and Shane Amarasinghe of Sri Lanka competed in the 25-29 age group. In the triathlon event, he won the gold medal by completing the 1km sea swim in 23 minutes, the 20km cycle in 36 minutes and the 5km run in 19 minutes, for a total time of 1 hour and 18 minutes. He was able to win the gold medal in that category. He was able to win 13th place in the overall competition. With this tournament victory, Shane Amarasinghe qualifies to represent the Australian team at the World Triathlon Championships to be held in Sydney, Australia this year.
