Colombo, Sri Lanka – 13th September 2025 – The Roshan Mahanama Trust is proud to announce that its
Chairman, Mr. Roshan Mahanama, has been honoured with the prestigious ‘Humanitarian of the Year
2025’ Award at the Lanka Business Awards 2025.
This distinguished recognition underscores Mr. Mahanama’s lifelong commitment to compassion, service,
and social responsibility, as well as his tireless efforts to uplift underprivileged and vulnerable communities
across Sri Lanka. Through the Roshan Mahanama Trust, he has spearheaded numerous impactful initiatives
in education, child protection, health and wellbeing, and emergency intervention, creating meaningful and
lasting changes in the lives of children and families.
Mr. Mahanama’s humanitarian contributions extend beyond the Trust. During the 2004 tsunami, he, along
with his father and close friends, provided aid to affected communities in Eastern and Southern Sri Lanka.
Following the Easter attacks, he visited churches across the country and supported families in need, an
effort he continues in collaboration with the Wijerama Family Foundation. He also participated in the Covid
Aid Project, funded by a group of doctors and his friend Chaminda Vaas, supporting more than 10,000
people during the nationwide lockdown.
In his acceptance remarks, Mr. Mahanama stated:
“I do not serve humanity seeking applause or recognition. I accept this award only if it inspires younger
generations to embrace compassion and service as guiding principles in their lives.”
The Roshan Mahanama Trust continues to work closely with local and international partners on
sustainable initiatives, including the Lama Piyasa Child Protection Centers, the Ayati National Center for
Children with Disabilities, and pediatric cancer support programs in collaboration with Indira Cancer Trust
and SOS Children’s Villages Sri Lanka, where Mr. Mahanama serves as an ambassador.
This honour stands as a testament not only to Mr. Mahanama’s dedication but also to the collective effort
of Trustees, donors, partners, and well-wishers whose unwavering support continues to advance the
Trust’s mission.
