The opening of the Ratnapura District Sports Complex and 400m Track was held today (Oct. 12) under the patronage of the Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Sunil Kumara Gamage.
The Minister of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs (Dr.) Hiniduma Sunil Senevi, and the Chairman of the Ratnapura District Coordination Committee, MP Shantha Padma Kumara, were also present at the event.
Speaking at the event, the Minister said that a program has already been launched to develop talented athletes and coaches to replace the players who have been destroying the game so far. The Minister further stated that the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports will continue to make the necessary interventions to develop sports in the country more efficiently.
