Four new Junior National Records were recognized by AIM Haathim of St. Peter’s College, Akash Deeshana and Julie Hope of Cyclone Swimming Academy (CSA), and a relay team from Lyceum International School Gampaha on the second day of the Long Course National Swimming Championship prepared by Sri Lanka Aquatic Sports Union (SLASU) at the Sugathadasa Stadium Swimming Pool yesterday.

Julie Hope of CSA set a new junior national record in the Girls Under-15 100m Freestyle, clocking 1:02.52. She erased the earlier record of 1:03.06 set by Hiruki de Silva of Gateway College Colombo in 2019.

Akash Deeshana of CSA set a new Junior National Record in the Boys Under-15 200m Breaststroke, clocking 2:42.76. He removed the previous record of 2:43.26 set by Dasindu Perera of Ananda College in 2019.

AIM Haathim of St. Peter’s College set a new Junior National Record in the Boys Under-15 400m Individual Medley, clocking 5:12.77. He erased the previous record of 5:15.17 set by himself at the National Age Group Swimming Championship this year. In the meantime, Akash Deeshana of CSA also bettered the previous Junior National Record, clocking 5:13.97.

In the Girls Under-15 400m Medley Relay, Lyceum International School Gampaha set a new Junior National Record. The team, which included Anuththara Jayasundara, Pavani Galagedara, Induwary Wickramaratne, and Yunaya Perera, clocked 5:15.63, erasing the previous record of 5:19.55 set by Visakha Vidyalaya in 2023.
