Sri Lankan tennis players Damsath Peiris and Annaya Norbert bagged the Boys’ and Girls’ Singles Titles correspondingly, in Week II of the ATF Under-14 Boys’ and Girls’ Tennis Tournament, organised by the Sri Lanka Tennis Association (SLTA), and held at the SLTA Courts in Colombo on Friday (8).
Peiris, a student of Ananda College, recorded a straight-sets victory over national Yudheerya Atapattu of Maliyadeva College, with a score-line of 6-2, 6-1 in the final, underscoring his dominance throughout the match.
In the Girls’ final, Annaya Norbert from Holy Family Convent, Bambalapitiya, got the better of India’s Diya Ravikumar in an exciting three-set encounter.
Even though Norbert lost the first set 4-6, she made a strong comeback to victory the next two sets in cliffhanger tiebreaks, both at 7-6, lifting the Title after a supercharged battle.
