Sri Lankan player Oshini Gunawardena has become the world’s number one in the under-13 chess rankings.
This is also the highest position achieved by a Sri Lankan player in any age group in the world chess rankings.
Oshini has also managed to secure 42nd place in the under-20 chess world rankings.
Oshini, who started playing chess at Fergusson Girls’ College, Ratnapura, joined Wycherley International School with the aim of honing her skills.
We wish Oshini, who is developing her skills under Mr. Akila Kavinda, the best of luck in making Sri Lanka’s name shine before the world in the future.
