
The Department of Sports Development announced the new timetable for the 29th edition of the National Sports Festival (NSF) 2025, which will be organised by the Ministry of Sports.
Therefore, the Inter-Provincial events are scheduled to be detained from July 18 to August 31, in the Southern Province (Galle and Matara) and in the Western Province (Colombo).
The NSF take in 33 sports, of which 32 are planned to be held in Galle, Colombo and Matara, Director General of the Department of Sports Development Professor (Retired) Shemal Fernando told the Daily Mirror.
The NSF’s first sporting event, the National Cross-Country Championship 2025, was held in Nuwara Eliya last March.
It was before obvious to conduct the NSF in the Sabaragamuwa Province in the city of Ratnapura but due to difficulties with accommodation facilities, the event was shifted to Galle and Colombo.
Schedule 1 (Galle):
Marathon, race-walking and cycling on July 18, 19 and 20 at Galle.
Tug-of-War on July 18 and 19 at Dadalla Grounds.
Netball on July 18,19 and 20 at Matara Stadium.
