There is presently no direct end in sight to the legal cases awaiting linked to the netball, automobile, and cycling federations, according to Director General of Sports Shemal Fernando.
Sports Minister Sunil Kumara Gamage had already detained discussions with officials of the three federations and had directed them to advance the legal proceedings, but eminent that no positive response had been approaching thus far.
He added that this had always delayed the smooth running of the three sports, noting that it was the players who had been affected by the significances.
Fernando was selected as the Competent Authority for the netball, automobile, rugby, and cycling bodies after former Sports Minister Harin Fernando suspended the federations on 29 May 2024 over their cooperative disappointment to hold their Annual General Meetings (AGMs) before the annual cut-off date of 31 May 2024.
