The Sri Lankan team participating in the 7th Roll Ball World Cup in Dubai has alleged that they faced many difficulties during the World Cup due to the misconduct of Roll Ball Association officials.

The women’s and men’s teams that returned to Sri Lanka after the tournament concluded said that several team members were unable to participate in the tournament due to the association’s failure to apply for visas.

“We arrived in Colombo on December 13 to leave for the tournament, but we were unable to leave as several of our members had not received their visas. The coaches and team managers of both teams had also not received their visas. The association informed us that the visas would be processed by the 16th and that everyone could travel together. However, on that day, several of our members, coaches and team managers had not received their visas. The association informed those who had visas to leave and said that the rest would join the next day. Although the women’s team competed until the semi-finals, the remaining players and staff did not arrive until the last minute, creating great difficulties in participating in the tournament,” a team member told the media.

They also alleged that the Sri Lanka Roll Ball Association knew that neither players nor coaching staff could apply for visas until two days after the tournament began.

Stating that they were sent only to participate and that the association had failed to provide the necessary support, the athletes demanded an investigation into the matter.
