The much-anticipated National Ranking Golf Championship for August 2024 saw some high-class golf by pro Nadaraja Thangaraja, who conquered from the initial day until the end at the Royal Colombo Golf Club (RCGC) to win the championship with a clear lead of 23 strokes.
Thangaraja showed remarkable skills and pliability during the entire four-day tournament, not allowing any golfer to come closer to his score.
The competition was fierce, with each participant resolute to make their mark and improve their standings on the world stage.
Leading the way, Thangaraja delivered an unresolved performance to secure the top spot with a total score of 270.
Chalitha Pushpika followed in second place with a score of 293, demonstrating his ability to navigate the challenging course conditions with skill and determination.
Pushpika’s performance placed him as one of the leading golfers in the national circuit.
The third place was a tightly disputed battle, resulting in a four-way tie.
Chanaka Perera, Uditha Jayasuriya, Husni Uwise, and P.D.S.U. Kumara all finished with a score of 297, showing the depth of talent present in Sri Lanka’s golfing community.
Kumar Danushan, who was number two as of Day 3, slipped to seventh overall after having a bad day on the greens on Day 4.
In the meantime, Sanduni Wanasinghe won the Ladies’ event with a score of 375.
Sri Lanka Golf organised and conducted this event, giving exposure for the golfing talent in the country.
