Sri Lankan batsman Kusal Mendis has been offered a chance by Nottinghamshire to play in the four-day inter-county cricket tournament being held in Britain, Newswire has reported.
The focus is on replacing Mendis in the squad to replace Ishan Kishan, who has played for the team so far.
However, Kusal Mendis needs the approval of Sri Lanka Cricket to play for Nottinghamshire.
Nottinghamshire has not yet issued an official statement in this regard.
While Sri Lankan fast bowlers sometimes get opportunities to play in English county tournaments, Sri Lankan batsmen rarely get the opportunity to play in the country’s county tournaments.
