Defending champions Maris Stella College, Negombo and Lyceum, Wattala clinched the Boys’ and Girls’ overall titles respectively at the second Ritzbury Sri Lanka Inter-Schools Relay Championships 2024, which concluded at the Vincent Dias Stadium in Badulla yesterday.
After a thrilling contest, Maris Stella collected a total of 87 points and edged out their closest rivals St. Joseph Vaz College, Wennappuwa (81 points) and St. Benedict’s College (80 points) into second and third place respectively.
Meanwhile, Lyceum, Wattala won the Girls’ overall championship for the first time with 120 points while pushing the defending champions A. Rathnayake Central College (94 points) to second place.
Holy Cross College, Gampaha secured third place in the Girls’ overall championship.
The meet was conducted by the Ministry of Education and the Sri Lanka Schools Athletic Association (SLSAA) and sponsored by CBL Foods International Ritzbury.
Over 6,000 athletes representing 600 schools participated in this meet in the age group categories of Under-12, Under-14, Under-16, Under-18 and Under-20 Boys’ and Girls’. (dailymirror)
