Leading business magazine LMD has announced that race car driver Yeven David is the ‘Sri Lankan of the Year’ for 2025.

David is the youngest recipient of the award in the history of the awards, which began in 1995 when the late Lakshman Kadirgamar was presented with the annual award.

“At the age of 18, when many young people are just beginning to find their aspirations, David has already made his name in the international motorsport scene,” said LMD.

“Yevan David’s trajectory is a sign of a new generation confidently entering stadiums once considered unreachable. It reminds us that national pride is not born merely from medals or trophies, but from individuals who are brave enough to push the boundaries of what Sri Lanka can do,” it said.

Yevan, who became the 31st ‘Sri Lankan of the Year’ by LMD, joins the list of distinguished citizens who have won this award. The award has been ranked among the island’s most prestigious awards since its launch in 1995.
