The management of the Asian Boxing Confederation (ABC) has officially declared that the next edition of the ASBC Asian U22 and Youth Boxing Championships will be detained in Colombo from 10-24 May this year.
Sri Lanka has never held any of the previous Asian Boxing Championships and hence the forthcoming event will not only be a historic edition in the South Asian nation, but also a significant chapter in their boxing history.
Colombo is prepared with all requisite facilities to stage this championship, including the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium and the lush Galle Face Green which has already been utilised for their last National Boxing Championships.
Boxers born in 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2006 will be qualified to compete in the U22 age group, while pugilists of the 2007 and 2008 age groups will have the chance to box in the youth part.
The earlier edition of the championships was held in Kazakhstan in April-May 2024 with teams from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and India making an influence.
