Lahiru Achintha create history for Sri Lanka by clinching the country’s first-ever Asian Youth Games Gold medal in the Boys’ 1500m event in Bahrain on Wednesday (23).
Achintha, on behalf of St. Aloysius College, Ratnapura, secured the triumph with a personal best time of three minutes and 57.42 seconds.
A Chinese athlete grabbed the Silver medal with a time of three minutes and 58.73 seconds. This victory raises Sri Lanka’s overall medal tally at the 2025 games to two.
