Kandy Sports Club continued as the only unbeaten team in the Inter Club League in 2025 when they surpassed Police Sports Club by 43 points (7 tries, 4 conversions) to 22 points (4 tries, 1 conversion) to win at Police Park last evening.
At the short break, Kandy led 19-0.
Kandy sketched first blood through their powerful hooker, former Kingswoodian Dilshard Fareed, in the 12th minute of the game. Tarinda Ratwatte added the extra two points. Kandy continued to control and scored their second try through Chathuranga Kudalige, who ran circles around the Cops to touch down, which Tarinda converted. The third Kandy try was scored by Danushka Ranjan with a powerful run.
After the improvement, Kandy added tries through Dahan Wickremarachchi, Malith Wijesundera, Srinarth Sooriyabandara, and Dinal Ekanayake. Four of the try conversions were successful by Tarinda. In the meantime, Police scored their tries through Malith Mihsara, Hirantha Perera (2), and Shane Hopwood. One of the try conversions was successfully taken by Hopwood.
