The ICC Annual General Meeting in Singapore concluded recently. The International Cricket Council has announced several key decisions taken at the meeting.

These include an update on Afghanistan women’s cricket, the host nations of the next three ICC World Test Championship finals, the current state of USA cricket and the addition of two new members to the ICC.

In line with the ICC’s initiative to support displaced women cricketers of Afghan origin, the ICC announced that these players will be able to participate in ICC tournaments, including the 2025 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup and next year’s Women’s T20 World Cup in England.

The ICC also announced that the hosting rights for the next three World Test Championship (WTC) finals (2027, 2029, 2031) have been awarded to England and Wales Cricket Board. The finals of the first three stages of the WTC were also held in England. Meanwhile, the ICC has also admitted two new member countries. Namely, the Timor-Leste Cricket Association and the Zambia Cricket Association. Accordingly, the total number of ICC member countries has now increased to 110.

A decision has also been taken at this meeting regarding United States Cricket, and accordingly, steps have been taken to give them an additional three months to carry out extensive governance reforms. These reforms include holding free and fair elections within a specified period.
