Havelocks tired out CH & FC 27-21 at the Colombo Race Course yesterday (25) in their Week 7 clash of the Inter-Club Rugby League. 

The game of the week turned out to be a cliff-hanger just as expected throughout the lead up to the clash.

With this loss, CH has ached five defeats so far after seven games whilst Havies clinched their sixth win. 

The companions Havelock Sports Club got the point’s board ticking first through a 13th minute try by speedster Jayathu Rajarathna, while deputy skipper Sandesh Jayawickrama added the extras. 

Well along the Gymkhana Club hit back strongly with back-to-back converted tries through Gimhama Silva and Ramesh Fernando to lead 14-7.

At the edge of half-time, Janidu Fernando’s converted try along with a Jayawickrama penalty saw Havies go into lemons with a slender lead.

CH on track off the second essay scoring first as Ramesh Fernando went over for his second try and Maliksha Perera slotted his second conversion. 

Ten minutes well along Janidu Fernando went over for his second try to put the Park Club back in the game. 

In the 75th minute Jayathu Rajarathna scored his second try to make it 27-21 for Havies and almost sealed the deal and secured the all-important 4-try bonus point.

Havies requirement to be aware of their discipline under pressure as they were shown two yellow cards in the latter part of the game, with Udara Lakshan and Samuel Maduwantha sent to the sin bin.
