
Colombo North arose champions of the U-17 Sri Lanka Youth League limited overs tournament by recording a 33 runs win on the DLS method over Colombo in the low scoring final played at the Galle Stadium yesterday.
The match got off to a dawn start with Colombo North U17 taking first lease of the wicket making 164 with Santhul Wijeratne making a top score of 59. Colombo South U17 in their run pursuit of a revised target of 167 runs was making steady progress and sitting pretty on 105 for 4 in the 17th over. But Colombo North U17’s bowling pair of Minuga Nethsara and Lahiru Lakmal who together accounted for seven wickets supported by Shaveen Perera combined to bowl the opponents out for 133.
Colombo South U17 in fact gone their last six wickets for the addition of just 28 runs as Colombo North U17 succeeded to make a repeat of their first round win.
