Burdett Trophy and Puffin Cup tee off today at Nuwara Eliya

The historic 121st Burdett Trophy and 85th Puffin Cup, two of golf’s longest-standing inter-club tournaments, will commence today at Nuwara Eliya Golf Club, supported by SLT-Telecom

Competing in this year’s events are the 121st Burdett Trophy for Men and the 85th Puffin Cup for Ladies. Kushal Johnnpillai will lead the Nuwara Eliya Golf Club team, while Amrith De Zoysa will captain the Royal Colombo Golf Club team.

Adding to the excitement, the tournament will introduce the Masters Trophy, the 125th Anniversary Trophy, and, for the first time, the Junior Trophy. In the Burdett Trophy, the Royal Colombo Golf Club holds a strong historical advantage with 69 victories, compared to Nuwara Eliya Golf Club’s 32 wins, with six editions resulting in a tie.

In the Puffin Cup, Usha de Silva will be leading the team from NEGC, while J. Tiru Jesudasan takes charge as captain for the RCGC ladies.(dailynews)
