The 13th Defence Services Cycling Championship was held on 11th September 2025 at the Gajaba Supercross Track, Saliyapura, and the Army emerged as the overall champion of the tournament.
Eighteen (18) athletes representing 11 Army Regiments participated in this national championship cycling event, which was held under five (5) events, and they won 05 gold medals, 05 silver medals and 02 bronze medals.
Gunner Tharaka Namal of the Army Artillery Regiment was crowned the best player of the tournament by securing first place in the MX 125 cc and MX 250 cc categories.
Major General Pradeep Kulatunga, Commander, Security Forces – Wanni, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest at the prize and certificate presentation ceremony.
Meanwhile, Major General Subhat Sanjeewa, Chairman, Army Motor Sports Committee, Mr. Milan Niranjan, Vice President, Federation of Sri Lanka Motor Sports (FMSSL) and a group of senior officers and officers of the tri-services were also present on the occasion.
