Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage, the Commander of the Army, presented financial incentives to members of the Sri Lanka Army Cricket team who played a key role in securing victory at the Asian Women’s Cricket Championship on 05 July 2024 at Army Headquarters. The awardees included Sergeant D.M.S.M.K. Dasanayake, Sergeant D.B.G.S.K. Kulasuriya, Sergeant N.N.D. Silva, and Lance Corporal M.A.A. Sanjeewani.
The Army Chief extended his congratulations to the players for their commendable achievement and praised their dedication and performance throughout the tournament. He also highlighted the need for improved facilities to support the development of female cricketers and expressed his commitment to future success that will enhance the recognition of both the nation and the Army.
