
Sri Lanka Army ‘B’ team gained the men’s open title, while the Navy ‘A’ team lifted the women’s open title at the National Beach Volleyball Championship, organised by the Sri Lanka Volleyball Federation and clinched at the Beach Park in Negombo recently.
The Army ‘B’ team grabbed win in the Men’s open final by beating the Air Force Team in straight sets, 2-0 (21-15, 21-16).
Nalin Perera and W.D.M. Wickramasinghe played stellar roles in leading the Army team to triumph.
In the Women’s open section, two Navy teams reached the final, underlying their authority in the competition.
The Navy ‘A’ team, signified by Deepika Bandara and Kasuni Lakshani, got the better of the Navy ‘B’ team with a 2-0 (21-17, 21-17) victory to claim the championship.
The Air Force Women’s Team ended in third place, while the Army ‘A’ team secured third place in the men’s category.
