
The Air Force Women’s Hockey Team carried an outstanding performance initial as champions with a commanding 2–0 victory over the Army Women’s Team in the final encounter.
Representing superior coordination and tactical execution, the team secured a well-deserved victory and claimed the championship title.
The 13th Defence Services Hockey Tournament finished at the Reid Avenue Hockey Grounds, marking the culmination of a highly competitive and determined event that showcased the exceptional skill, teamwork and sportsmanship of the Air Force hockey teams.
A special tribute was awarded to Corporal W. I. M. P. Weerabahu of the Air Force Women’s Team for winning the Best Player in the Women’s category of the tournament. In the Men’s category, the Air Force Team exhibited commendable resilience and determination in a thrilling final match against the Army Men’s Team.
With the scores flattened at 3–3 at the end of regular play, the match proceeded to a penalty shootout. Despite their resolute efforts, the Air Force Men’s Team narrowly missed the championship, concluding the shootout at 3–1 and finishing as the runners-up in the tournament.
