Junior swimmer Rushalee Dissanayake of Musaeus College set the solitary national record in the Women’s Senior National 1500m Freestyle at the National and World Aquatic Short Course Selection Trial, organised by Sri Lanka Aquataic Sports Union (SLASU) which decided at the Isipathana College Swimming Pool Complex yesterday.
The 13-year-old Dissanayake clocked an remarkable time of 18:55.44, shattering the earlier record of 19:17.21 set by Ramudi Samarakoon of Killer Whale Aquatics (KWA). She outperformed her rivals, including Pamudi Jayaratne of KWA, who finished with a time of 19:54.11, and Galina Basnayake, also from KWA, who clocked 20:20.05.
