Gevin Linden made history as the first-ever Sri Lankan Muay Thai fighter to compete in Kard Chuek on 22 September.
Kard Chuek is the most brutal form of the martial art, in which competitors have their hand in ropes instead of wearing gloves, which is the case for traditional Muay Thai fighters.
As difficult as his opponent was, with over 70 fights under his belt, Gevin displayed much determination and resolution. Despite losing the match, he won the hearts of spectators worldwide for his relentless performance.
Gevin’s record in the field is adorned with accomplishments and accolades. Since his debut in 2022, he has turn out to be the reigning WBC Sri Lanka Muay Thai Champion for 2023, clinching multiple titles both locally and internationally. Trained by the esteemed Kru Vimukthi Abeynayake at Vanquish Muay Thai and Fitness in Colombo, his vision is to reach the ONE Championship by 2027.
Following this dream, Gevin endures to pursue his promising career in combat sports. One day, his passion and dedication will fuel inspiration and pride amongst Sri Lankans.
